"Married 52 years"

"Somewhere My Love" sung by Andy Williams
Dad enjoyed playing this song on the organ

Somewhere my love there will be songs to sing,
although the snow covers the hope of spring.
Somewhere a hill blossoms in green and gold
and there are dreams all that your heart can hold.

Someday we'll meet again my love,
Someday whenever the spring breaks through.

You'll come to me out of the long ago,
warm as the wind, soft as a kiss of snow.
Lara my own think of me now and then,

Godspeed my love till you are mine again.

Mom and Dad were married in December, 1941. Dad was in the service, stationed in the states, training troops. The song "Somewhere My Love" was always one of Dad's favorites. He spent a lot of time at the piano or the organ playing the music of Cole Porter, Frank Sinatra, and George Gershwin, to name a few.

My parents enjoyed 52 years of marriage. We spent our summers at camp on Sebago Lake in Maine, where they made many wonderful friends. Dad remained active in the National Guard for many years after the war. He eventually retired, and was made Brigadeer General at the time of his retirement.. A few years later Mom also retired and they began enjoying their winters in Florida, along with some of their lifelong friends.

This is the house on State Avenue.
Mom and Dad had the house built in 1955.
We enjoyed many Christmas Eves there.

This next page will tell you more about Christmas Eve.
